About my work:
I trained in Neurolinguistic Kinesiology, which uses aspects of NLP (working with the unconscious to change behaviours and heal trauma) in order to add to my healing tool box. Kinesiology also frequently uses arts-based scenarios to holistically heal. These include creative writing, drawing, sound and dance.
Kinesiology is an alternative natural therapy and uses muscle testing to read certain blockages in the body/mind. It was developed in the 1960s by chiropractor Dr George Goodheart and is used widely today by a range of health practitioners.
After muscle testing on a particular issue or topic that the client wishes to explore, the kinesiologist is able to select the appropriate ‘correction’ to balance the person and to promote healing and wellbeing.
A kinesiology session lasts up to 1.5 hours and one client described her session as ‘like a psychic massage’. Kinesiology can be effective in a range of areas:
- Physical pain
- Anxiety, mild depression and stress
- Relationship difficulties
- Getting back on track in your life
- Overcoming limiting beliefs
- Performance – becoming better at something you wish to excel at
- Phobias – spiders, heights etc
- Food sensitivities and allergy responses
- Sleep difficulties
- Any area of your life in which you want to change or make progress
In addition to working in the field of healing I have been a journalist and writer for more than 30 years. For the past 20 years I have written about health.
I grew up in western Sydney in a somewhat chaotic dysfunctional household and experienced the deaths of many around me in my 20s. This led me on a search for meaning and I’ve been a Buddhist practitioner for more than 20 years. Buddhism gives me a wonderful frame in which to work and help clients – including meditation and mindfulness.
In my late 40s I was diagnosed with acute leukaemia and spent 14 months in hospital being treated and recovering after a bone marrow transplant. This period allowed me to go deep inside myself and come to an understanding of the complexity of cancer and other illnesses and ways to help people with a life-limiting condition.
My goal is to nurture and heal clients, helping them become happier, healthier and more fulfilled in their work and relationships.
An initial session costs $80 and following sessions are $60. Often a person can make real progress in one to four sessions. Some clients choose to come every six or eight weeks to check in and ‘tune up’.
