Richmond Tweed Regional Library

Richmond Tweed Regional Library’s thirteen branches are the place to go for information on arts, health, and wellbeing in the Northern Rivers. They have free internet & Wi-Fi, eBooks, CDs & DVDs, thousands of books, study spaces, online reference resources, and best of all… it’s FREE!

Richmond Tweed Regional Library has a simple mission: to create an environment where everyone can connect, discover, escape with knowledge, ideas, and stories. They want to help you expand your mind, broaden your horizons, and learn new things. Whether it’s finding a great story to read, accessing online services, or joining a Storytime group, they’re here to support you and provide free services that make your life better.

Richmond Tweed Regional Library covers our four Local Government Areas of Byron Shire, Ballina Shire, Tweed Shire, and Lismore City. There are twelve physical branches, and a Mobile Library that visits our villages and rural communities. They also have a Home Library Service for those members of our community who are unable to get into a branch.

The service was founded in 1971 and is one of the biggest regional library services in NSW. It provides access to knowledge, information, and entertainment to well over 200,000 residents and is situated throughout the Northern Rivers region. The branches celebrate the unique area we live in, with its beautiful beaches and ancient rainforests, colourful community, and progressive ideals.

The library’s goal is to occupy a central place in community life and to help diverse community members access the support, services, and technology they need to fulfil their learning and life goals. Being a member of the library gives you access to their collections on health and wellness, and arts and crafts, as well as online resources like Consumer Health Complete, and The Cochrane Library. They also have a dedicated Family History and Research Centre (located in Goonellabah) which can help you get started on your family history journey. Finding your place in the past, can help you feel part of the present. You never know what you’ll find!

You’re invited to visit our welcoming and flexible community libraries—both real and virtual—to connect, discover, escape.
